As an Associate Member of the British Dyslexia Association (AMBDA), with an Assessment Practicing Certificate (APC), I offer diagnostic dyslexia assessments from ages 8 to 18.
The process consists of an initial consultation, via telephone, to discuss if this is the right route for you and your child. Background information questionnaires will then be sent two weeks prior to the assessment. During this time, we will decide the best location to complete the assessment (this can be at your child's school with the school's permission or in my home office).
The assessments usually take 3-4 hours to complete - these can be split across two sessions if this would be best suited. These assessments cover areas such as underlying ability, phonological skills, processing speed, memory and attainment in reading, writing and spelling.
Following on from the assessment, a detailed report will then be produced which will outline strengths and weaknesses, a diagnostic outcome and recommendations for home and school. Reports will be completed within 4 weeks of the assessment.
Please note that a recent eye test (within the last two years) is required prior to a diagnostic assessment.
Dyslexia screeners can also be offered. These are ideal for pupils who are too young to have a dyslexia assessment (younger than 8) or if you want to explore learning areas in more detail before committing to a full diagnostic assessment. These sessions take approximately 1.5 hours to complete and the tests will cover areas such as phonological processing, memory, reading and spelling. Afterwards, a short report will be produced which will include:
a summary of background information provided by the home and school
an outline of each test and discussion about strengths and areas for development
recommendations for further support
Pricings
£450 for a complete diagnostic assessment.
£125 for a dyslexia screener.
